BRAZILIAN TOP TEAM LAGO VISTA ACADEMY RULES & ETIQUITTE
All students must wear clean BTT uniforms - BTT kimonos, BTT rashguards, and BTT shorts - to train and compete.
BTT uniforms must be clean with no rips, holes, nor stains. No mismatching of kimonos; all white, black, or blue, no exceptions.
All students must be on the mat before scheduled class time.
Remove footwear before stepping on the mats! All students will remove shoes, and carry them to the back; must wear shoes when entering the restroom, then remove shoes when exiting the restroom.
All students will bow when entering or leaving the mat. All students must always bow individually to every black belt present in the mat.
It is impolite to ask a higher ranking belt student to train. He/she will ask you!
All students must respect their training partner and shake hands/bow before and after training.
Priority of the mats is for scheduled classes and BTT students only.
During class, when the instructor is demonstrating techniques, every student must sit in seiza, butterfly, or stand. No talking during instruction, only when asking a question.
Absolutely no foul language inside the academy.
Keep finger and toe nails clipped and clean at all times. Proper personal hygiene is required. No offensive odors such as unsanitary body odor, tobacco, ammonia, etc. Long hair must be tied back. Remove all jewelry and piercings before class. No metal objects may be worn on the mats, no exceptions.
All students must change clothes in the changing rooms or restroom.
Women are required to wear at least a sports bra under Gi top (BTT rashguard is recommended). For No-Gi, women using spats must wear BTT shorts over them.
Students must ask permission from the instructor to enter/leave the mat during class.
No cell phones nor any electronic devices will be allowed on the mats without express permission from the instructor. Set devices to vibrate/silent.
Absolutely no shoes, gum, food, nor drinks on the mats.
When on the mat, students will maintain a sense of respect for the academy - seated is seiza, butterfly, or standing, kimonos properly tied, and ready to train. No students will lay ‘sprawled out’ on the mat at any time. Even while resting between rounds, students will maintain a proper appearance and behavior.
If you are sick, stay home!
Always remember when you are in public, you are a representative of Brazilian Top Team and its good name.
SPECTATORS
Spectators will be respectful of the coaches and allow them to provide the training. It can be difficult to run a class with several people shouting from the viewing area. Because of this, no outside coaching is allowed.
Spectators are requested to sit quietly to ensure an effective training environment and to further reinforce the discipline that is expected with martial arts.
Spectators are responsible for their child’s behavior if he/she is not participating in class. Children not participating in class should be under the supervision of a parent/guardian at all times. Aside from a service animal, no pets will be allowed in the academy.
Spectators are asked to step outside for personal calls; no speaker calls nor meetings via devices inside the academy.
Spectators may take pictures/video during class; however, no pictures/video may be captured during seminars without express permission.
Ask the instructor if you have any questions or concerns about anything.
Respect those you train with and your instructors. Rank is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. Respect the academy.
